Junk Pushers
Junk pushers are everywhere.
If I’m “oh hungry”, I should grab an Oh Henry.
If I need a break, the BEST way to do that is with a KitKat.
Even the chips are betting us that we “can’t eat just one”.
Then there’s pop, telling us their product tastes like our feelings. OUR FEELINGS?!
A local restaurant chain has a huge sign by the road that advertises “½ price apps after 8pm!”
Of course we’re going to want to pay half price!
But what’s the actual COST?
Not only are we being enticed to eat AFTER 8pm, but these apps are deep fried and breaded and cheesy.
They’re trying to get more PAYING customers to come in at a time when it typically dies down. They don’t give one single care that you may be feeling peckish at that hour.
And they don’t give one single care about the stomach ache you’re going to have by 11pm.
Junk pushers, all of them.
Fun fact, many of the people who run these large companies never allow their own families to eat these foods.
Why?
Because they know what’s in them. 😬
Because they know the potential repercussions of eating these foods.
And because they LOVE their families.
You? You’re just a CUSTOMER. You’re a wallet. You’re the reason they have the money to put high quality meats and crispy salads on their own plates.
While it’s funny to think about ourselves as a cranky Betty White when we’re hungry, a Snickers isn’t the answer.
When we’re hungry we need FOOD. We need nutrients. We need whole foods that our bodies can extract all the vitamins and minerals and nutrients from that it needs to LIVE. To be HEALTHY. To be MOBILE. To be PRODUCTIVE. To be HAPPY.
A chocolate bar makes you “happy” for a few seconds. It’s a trap.
If you “can’t eat just one” then don’t even eat one. There are sooooo many crunchy alternatives out there now. Ones with ingredients you can pronounce and your body can recognize.
Don’t get conned into compromising your valuable health because someone else paid a hefty advertising fee.
It’s. Not. Food.
Slogans are not real, they’re not facts. They care about your money, not you. You deserve to live well.
